GRIND AND SEAL

A grind and seal is a concrete floor option with similar look to polished concrete. This is our recommended system in environments that require more stain resistance than polished concrete can provide. It is typically best suited for areas with medium foot traffic such as retail stores and dining rooms. This system is approved for use in commercial kitchens by the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health.

Depending on the condition of the floor, the concrete is typically ground 2-3 times, patched and thoroughly cleaned before sealer application. We then apply a concrete sealer based on the desired look and budget. The sheen and durability of the floor will depend on the type of sealer used. This system produces a similar look to polished concrete but the shine is from the sealer only. Since the sealers used are topical, a grind and seal may wear faster than polished concrete. 

The concrete can be colored using stain/dye and clear sealer. The sealer can also be tinted for an opaque, non-transparent look.

A Scrub and Seal is a great way to protect your new concrete floors. This is a budget friendly system but is usually limited to new concrete. It may also be used on concrete that is in very good condition that has not been previously sealed. We clean the floor using auto scrubbers, apply concrete densifier and concrete sealer.

Concrete Densifier is a penetrating chemical that reacts within the pores of the concrete. Densifiers are used on concrete floors to increase the surface hardness and reduce dust created by the concrete. They will also make the surface less permeable to liquids. Treated surfaces have better abrasion resistance and are easier to maintain. Concrete densifier can be used as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with a surface sealer. Densifier is used on all on polished concrete floors.

Applying densifier and sealer to your floor is a great way to help preserve your concrete. This is a very cost effective alternative to concrete polishing, especially in large warehouses. A thorough cleaning is the only prep needed on new concrete.
