Many of our projects require the removal of an existing flooring material prior to providing one of concrete floor services. Pro Shine can remove your existing carpet, VCT, laminate, linoleum and ceramic tile. This is done using methods that will minimize dust and damage to the concrete surface. After removing your existing flooring it is usually necessary to remove the adhesive left behind before a new flooring material can be installed. We can remove tile thinset/mortar, carpet adhesive, vct adhesive, mastic and epoxy coatings.
The adhesive removal process is virtually dust free and usually consists of one or two aggressive grinds. This is typically done with carbide scrapers, 30 grit diamonds or PCDs. Our grinders are attached to high quality dust collectors minimizing the amount of airborne dust. Grinding the concrete is also a great surface prep for concrete polishing or applying epoxy.
Removal of vct, carpet and mastic adhesive from structures built before 1980 will require proof of asbestos testing from a lab before removal can begin. Local testing can easily be found on the internet and is fairly inexpensive. Pro Shine can take samples of your floor and submit for testing. We cannot grind floors that have been coated with a product containing asbestos at any point in time, even if the adhesive was properly abated.
